Groundbreaking Ceremony For New Primary School at Waw Township, Bago District

Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon were delighted to organize and take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Basic Education Primary School on 11th January 2020 in Kwal Te Village, Waw Township, Bago District, Myanmar. In attendance were the General Manager of Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon and the Chatrium CSR Team.

The initial funds for this exciting project were raised from the Music For Myanmar 2019 event held in October 2019, and we would like to share our happiness and gratitude with all our generous sponsors and business partners from the Music for Myanmar Charity Event 2019. The new school building project will be completed in March 2020 and it will accommodate an additional 50 students for the coming school term.

Ms. May Myat Mon Win, General Manager of Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, explained that they chose to help because “Social and Environmental Responsibility are core values at Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, and as part of this we continuously support the education of children in Myanmar. We hope that the children at this new primary school will be able to chase their dreams because of our contribution and support.”

About Music For Myanmar: Music for Myanmar raised awareness and funds for deaf, orphaned and disadvantaged children in Myanmar with a fundraising evening featuring the acclaimed Irish singing duo Simon Morgan and David Shannon, plus special guest singer Jewel. With the funds from this charity event, we are able to make a meaningful difference to the lives of many hundreds of underprivileged children, also positively impacting their families and communities. The children we will be supporting with the profits from this event are from the Mary Chapman School for the Deaf in Yangon, the Parami Orphanage in Dala, the NAC-NLD Aids Centre in South Dagon Township, the Nawarat Monastic School in Shwe Pyi Thar and also the Basic Primary School in Waw Township.
