Chanthaburi Thailand

ENCHANTING CHANTHABURI

In Eastern Thailand, the noble town of Chanthaburi sits near the mouth of the river bearing its name. Natural beauty abounds in this lush, coastal, forested area, where footpaths wind through dense jungle, intertwining with sparkling mountain streams, then rivers as they flow to often deserted tropical beaches.

Sapphires and rubies are sourced locally and traded at the weekly gem market on Sri Chan Road, as other traders deal in coffee, fruit, rubber and peppers. Thai, Chinese, French and Vietnamese influences have sketched a unique portrait here, some dwellings transformed into local museums offering glimpses of a bygone era.
